Paul Allender

Paul Allender is currently a performance academic, a Senior Research Fellow with the Centre for Media, Arts and Performance at Coventry University, working on a digital archive of the Siobhan Davies Dance company.

He is also a practicing experimental performer and director and wishes to pursue the latter in much greater depth. Paul will be moving to Sheffield and setting up his own performance group within the next two years and is looking for anyone who is interested in joining.

The group will explore devised, participatory, and perhaps autobiographical, work in-depth.

Heather Hunt

Heather Hunt has worked as an environmental educator for 6 years, and is now free-lance. She is a founder member of Sheffield Campaign against climate Change.

Previously, Heather worked as a clinical and community psychologist with the Health Service. This career change was motivated by a desire to share her delight in the natural world and to engage creatively with finding socially just solutions to the ecological crises we have created.

Current work includes; engaging the public in ecological footprinting and conversations about climate change with Sheffield Museums and Sheffield Council; leading environmental education field visits with the Peak District National Park Authority; group leading for "Trees for Life" - a project to restore the Caledonian forest.

Ten years ago Heather studied and participated in community drama in South African townships and followed this with training in Forum Theatre, Socio-Drama and Action Methods.
Heather enjoyed integrating these methods into community psychology and environmental education.

She also enjoys performing - with Sheffield Popular Arts productions and with The Rebel Clown Army.

 

Ian McHale

Ian McHale has been a professional actor for the past 10 years working in Theatre, Film and Television.

He has also directed shows at the Crucible Studio, the Live Theatre in Newcastle and various plays for the Burngreave Arts Group.

Ian is delighted to be working alongside Panni once more.

 

Sophie Mei

Sophie Mei has worked as a Theatre and Dance Performer for the last 4 years and is currently at University of Manchester reading a B.A. in Philosophy and Italian.

She has also studied French, Japanese, conversational Chinese and Italian. She trained with Sheffield and Crucible Youth theatres going on to take RADA, Sky Television workshops.

Recently she performed in West Yorkshire Playhouse’s “Bollywood Jane” and has performed with 3rd Angel and Blank Slate theatre companies.

She is represented by Taste of Cairo, national Egyptian dance and entertainment agency and has completed her foundation Teacher Training certificate in Arabic Dance with Josephine Wise Academy of Arabic Dance.

In 2007 she taught dance and drama across Italy and enjoys delivering workshops and seminars. Sophie was a finalist in "Student Dance Fever" and "Students Got Talent" University of Manchester.

Recently having shot her first professional music video and appearing on BBC's Dance X, ITV & Channel 4 Television her performing career has broadened to National Television.

 

Panni Poh Yoke Loh

Panni Poh Yoke Loh has, as a live artist , performed in ‘Peace Servings’, Sheffield 2002, ‘Peace Prayer Flags’, York 2003, ‘Meditating on the City’, Sheffield 2004 and ‘Tea Talks’, Blackburn with Darwen 2006 as Artist for the Fukuoka Asian Art Trienalle.

She also performed as the Shepherd in ‘Oedipus’, Burngreave Theatre Group, Sheffield 2002 and in Third Angel’s ‘Standing Alone, Standing Together. In 2003 she co-ordinated the promenade theatre performance of Dennis Potter’s ‘Blue Remembered Hills, Abbeyfield Park, Sheffield and the ‘Burngreave Carnival of Lights’, 2004.

As the artist holding this exhibition she has thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with the other performers and the Theatre Director Dr. Paul Allender to create an engaging performance piece for ‘East-West, Spirit, Earth’.
